Nebraska Remains at 14 in Top 25 Poll

The Nebraska Cornhusker football team remains at number fourteen in the USA Today college football polls, and number 14 in the AP Top 25 rankings. Nebraska has a chance to move up with an opportunity to play other top rated teams: Michigan (10), Michigan State (19), and the newest entry, Penn State (25).

Huskers Slip to 14 in the Top 25 Poll

The Nebraska Cornhusker Football team was ranked number fourteen in the week's Top 25 football poll after the loss to the number four ranked team, Wisconsin. Nebraska must rebound and defeat Ohio State next week, followed by other highly regarded teams like Michigan State. The game on November 19th is shaping up like a great contest again 12th rated Michigan before the Huskers can meet Wisconsin in the title game.

New Lincoln Sport Practice Complex Meeting

About 150 youth coaches and others attended an open house last week to give feedback and suggestions for a proposed practice complex near Van Dorn Street and Park Boulevard. The attendance at the gathering suggested that a youth sports practice complex was a growing need.
"There is more energy for youth baseball in Lincoln," Ayars said Thursday. "We had rooms full of people with wonderful ideas." Mike Ayars is President of Ayars & Ayars, Inc. a Design-Build firm. He said "the plan is to think big, and then get real and develop a strategy."
Tentative plans include five specialized buildings for baseball and softball, basketball, swimming, volleyball and wrestling, plus four regulation baseball fields and six youth baseball and softball fields.
Open-house participants broke into discussion groups by sport, and coaches were asked what they thought needed to be modified and how much they would use the facility. "The next step is to summarize the notes and meet with smaller groups from each sport", Ayars said.
Lincoln Parks and Recreation Director Lynn Johnson, who attended the open house, admits the city doesn't have enough fields for all the teams that want to play.
"I commend Ayars and Ayars because we have to have these conversations because we don't have adequate facilities to support local teams," Johnson said. "And certainly not enough room to host tournaments that could spark economic development."
