RECRUITING: Kicker Pledges Red

Nebraska's football team landed its 18th verbal commitment for the 2011 class Sunday when Bondi – a 6-foot-1 kicker out of Boca Raton, Fla. - switched from Wake Forest to NU after his weekend visit. Bondi confirmed his decision with Nebraska's Rivals.com site, HuskersIllustrated.
NU expects Bondi to compete immediately for the job replacing Alex Henery – the most accurate field-goal kicker in NCAA history.
The Huskers currently have walk-ons Brett Maher, Jon Damkroger and Jason Dann on the roster. Bondi's strong leg will make his a candidate to handle kickoff duties. For West Boca Raton High School, he regularly booted kickoffs from the 40-yard line through the end zone. He also made a 62-yard field goal at the Kornblue Kicking Challenge, a record for the event.
Nevetheless, Bondi should be considered the Huskers' third kicking target for the 2011 class. Originally, Nikolas Sade committed to Nebraska, but switched to his hometown North Carolina State. NU then focused on Matt Wile, who eventually committed to Michigan.
