Former Husker LB Heads to Tulane
1,813 views
Doug Colman, who started on Nebraska's 1994 and 1995 national title teams - and had been serving as a football intern on NU's current staff - has accepted a job coaching linebackers at Tulane, the New Orleans Times-Picayune reported Monday.
A linebacker for two of Charlie McBride's best defenses, Colman accounted for 96 tackles, five sacks and an interception over the 1994 and 1995 seasons. He started 14 of the 23 games in which he appeared during that time.
After quitting his job as a successful high school coach in New Jersey to pursue college coaching, Colman had been working as a defensive intern for Bo Pelini.
Colman started his job immediately at Tulane, and is coaching the Green Wave linebackers Tuesday after another Tulane assistant, Grant Higginson, was reassigned within the athletic department.
Current TU defensive coordinator Steve Stanard has ties to Nebraska, as he served as a student/graduate assistant for NU 1988-1990. Later he served on Tony Samuel's staff at New Mexico State and Frank Solich's staff at Ohio.
