Welcome to the official blog!
OK, so here's the deal: Big 12 and NCAA rules don't allow us to give you the play-by-play of the game, but we can provide you with updates, once an hour, with the basic rundown of the who, what, how, etc.
So check back with us throughout the game for those once-an-hour updates, and, of course, we'll have a full compliment of stuff after the game.
What we can tell you now: The wind (out of the south) and the heat will be a factor.
UPDATE: Nebraska leads 17-0 in the second quarter, as running back Marlon Lucky scored on a 14-yard touchdown and Joe Ganz connected with tight end Mike McNeill on a three-yard bootleg pass. Alex Henery added a 44-yard field goal after a Western Michigan fumble.
Ganz has been sharp, converting two third downs, scrambling out of trouble, and busting a 31-yard run on a zone read play.
Nebraska's defense has been stingy, with linebacker Cody Glenn forcing a fumble and defensive end Barry Turner notching a sack.
SECOND UPDATE: Nebraska leads 34-10 at halftime behind a brilliant first half from Ganz: 230 passing yards and three touchdowns. Ganz hit Nate Swift twice for touchdowns; first, on a 61-yarder; and second, on a three-yard fade pattern. Sandwiched in between those scores was a 43-yard field goal from Alex Henery.
Nebraska's defense has stuffed the run, as WMU has -6 yards at half. The Broncos have put together a couple decent drives through the pass, and the help of two penalties against NU cornerback Anthony West.
THIRD UPDATE: Early in the fourth quarter, and Nebraska leads 44-24. It's turned into a wild one, with Ganz and WMU quarterback Tim Hiller trading scores.
FINAL UPDATE: Nebraska wins 47-24. Ganz is the star, throwing for 345 yards and four touchdowns. On defense, Cody Glenn had 12 tackles, three pass breakups and a forced fumble.
We'll be back with more shortly.
