Also, I agree with LP's assessment and logic on why Green will likely start vs ISU. IF Green is really competing and pushing Zac Lee in practice, and he hasn't shown that he is likely to fold any worse than Lee when the game gets intense or is on the line, then get Green in there. If ALL positions are truly up for grabs, then you say the heck with Lee's ego and start the better player. No different than Rex Burkhead getting the nod over 4 other RB's who have been here for 1-2 years longer than Burkhead. Yes, those older players who have put in the time and aren't getting the start will get a bruised psyche, but that is what you deal with if you truly start the best players. QB should have to deal with it too.

Don't get me wrong though, if Green isn't truly pushing Lee for playing time, then don't go with Green just because he is the popular pick. You go with the best player, period - with no attention given to time spent, age, seniority, etc. If all things are equal, then you go with the younger candidate to build for the future.

It was noted earlier in the year and in fall camp that Zac Lee was a natural leader - now it sounds as if that has evaporated. Is Zac one of those that is only a leader when everything is going well, but then retracts into a shell if things aren't going his way? Zac seemed to have the cockiness and cool customer confidence early - but if he has lost it then that speaks to an underlying self-esteem/confidence issue that will not serve him well if he ever hopes to make it at the next level. Almost every NU QB has been critisized before, and they have nearly all had some bad games - but you persevere, don't take it personally, and lead YOUR team - regardless of how you are personally playing. Cody Green hasn't played enough to be the leader of this team, but his APPARENT maturity, desire to play and get the ball and run (yet also show the world he can pass too) - along with his deep voice, speaks of a leader ready to emerge. But will he still retain his maturity and desire when things aren't going his way?
