Our first Husker Locker giveaway went over so well - we're back for more!

We're giving out two prizes this week, too! The first is a copy of Tom Osborne's latest book, Beyond The Final Score. The second is another set of 300th sellout glasses.

Both are FREE!

There are, again, 2 ways to win:

1. Now that hunting season is here - Huskers and hunting go well together - we will randomly give ONE of the prizes to any member who comments below on a memory of hunting, fishing or just being outdoors (working on the farm, etc) while the Huskers are playing on the TV or radio in the background!

2. We will give ONE prize to a random Husker Locker member who:

a. Follows HuskerLocker on Twitter

b. Retweets the following message:

One fond memory is from 1978. I was a freshman in high school and we were on our way back from a scouting camping trip when Nebraska was playing Oklahoma. The whole bus was rocking after Billy Todd kicked the field goal in the 4th quarter to give us the lead. Then things really got wild when Jim Pillen recovered that fumble as Oklahoma was driving for a score.
That was one exciting game for me and only to be listening on the radio with Lyle Bremser was something. I couldn't wait to see the highlights.

Growing up in South Dakota, I remember Saturday afternoon football games on the car radio as far back as the late 1940s. As a 9- and 10-year-old, I joined my father on pheasant and duck hunts.
My last hunting trip with him was in the fall of 2001 near Pierre, S.D. He was 91 and almost certainly was the only man alive to have taken part in every South Dakota pheasant season since the first the very first one in 1919. Because of problems with his legs, this was to be our last pheasant hunt together. As we listened to Nebraska demolish Baylor in Waco on that October afternoon, we shared a lifetime of hunting and football memories.

I have many memories of listening to the Huskers, but one come to mind.
One Saturday, I believe the first Saturday of pheasant season. My family met at our farm to hunt. I brought my father in-law and his brothers we spent the morning hunting and had limited out by noon. We came in for lunch and cleaned all the birds and my Mom had prepared to great lunch. After lunch it was game time. We decide to have our own pool to make the game more interesting We had nine guys so my father in-law kicked in for my Mom. At the end of the game guess who had the good number. Of course it was Mom. She tried to give to my father in-law who wouldn't have it.
And if I remember right we beat Colorado that day.

Although I have many stories of listening to husker games in the pickup with my dad during rifle deer season, this story is one of the more recent ones. It was November 10th 2007 opening day for rifle deer season in Nebraska. My brother-in-law on his first deer hunt wounds a nice buck early in the morning. My uncle and I get in the pick up and turn on the game against Kansas State as we drive out and around to the bottom of this draw. Going in and out of radio range west of Valentine in the hills near the river, about everytime I could hear some part of the game it was something spectacular. Ganz 2nd career start and he is breaking records left and right. Even though I couldn't hear most of the game, eveytime I could hear what was going on, it was a celebration, after losing 5 games in a row it was nice to pull one out 73-31. His deer ran about 5 miles before they caught up to him. And I shot a 10 point 25" spread muley that evening.

Beautiful fall weather, leaf raking and Cornhusker (before we were the Huskers!) games on the radio are part of my growing up memories.

I remember listening to a husker game on the radio in the early 90's when I caught my first fish. A reebok, I think it was a size 12.

Last year. Deer Hunting South of SW of Lincoln. I'm posting a field while 3 friends walk through it. I'm standing next to the truck listening to the game against K-State.

Just as Castille runs for a 37 yard touchdown on 4-and-1, a good size 6 point runs 30 yards in front of me and I put him down.

You couldn't have scripted it any better.
