Can the Huskers reach .500 in what should be a down league in 2009? Or will their lack of frontcourt help consign them to the basement?
I tend to break down the schedule in groups of games Nebraska will win (barring catastrophe) games Nebraska should win, toss ups, games Nebraska could steal on a really good night, and games Nebraska won't win (barring the same catastrophe).
Here's how it looks:
Will win: Iowa State, Colorado, Kansas State
Should win: at Colorado
Toss up: at Iowa State, at Kansas State, Oklahoma State, Missouri
Could steal: at Texas Tech, Texas A&M, Kansas, at Missouri
Won't win: Texas, at Oklahoma, at Kansas, at Baylor
Now, it doesn't necessarily look promising- Baylor could fit in the steal category, I suppose, but I'd be surprised - but if the Huskers closed all of their toss-up games, they'd finish 8-8. They wouldn't beat anyone of consequence, other than Texas A&M, but it'd steal be 8-8.
A more realistic look would be 6-10 or 7-9. -

I'm looking at about 6-10 and that's stretching it. Doc has failed to land a big man. He seems to not understand NU's requirements. Don't get me wrong, Doc's a very good coach. What bothered me with Collier was he never had a good frontcourt until he got Maric. I see the same thing in Doc.Bruce "Boog" Frady

Fair criticism, although, in Sadler's defense, he freely admits they're small and that he hasn't been able to get a big guy on the court.
Next year, Boog. The Niemann kid, who had to sit out this year, is a decent player. -
