The Huskers beat Penn 23-14. The only upset of the night was at HWT when unranked Trey McLean of Penn beat #16 Tucker Lane of Nebraska. Lane has now lost 2 straight after upsetting number #3 ranked Zabriskie of ISU at the National Duals. Robert Sanders (149 lbs) came on late but fell just short against # 10 Cesar Grajales 12-11. Sanders is a former NCAA qualifier and top 10 level wrestling from him will be needed for the Huskers to challenge ISU at the Big 12s. Penn had a ranked (18th) wrestler at 157 lbs, but either he was hurt or they didn't want him to get plastered by Jordan Burroughs because they forfeited that weight class.

NU wrestles twice on Sunday. They tune up against unranked Virginia Tech before taking on the always tough Chippewas of Central Michigan (currently #6) - both are at the CMU campus. Beating CMU on the road will be tough. I find programs like CMU and Cornell to be very impressive as they can consistently compete toe to toe with schools from traditional power conferences like the Big 12 and Big 10(11).
