Also from Polk, home of power forward Qunicy Hankins. This one is point guard Lance "Sweet Jete" Jeter. Originally from the Pittsburgh area, Jeter initially played wide receiver at Cincinnati WKRKelly. He transferred to Polk and, voila.

Jeter is a 6-3, 230. By his own admission, he must lose about 20 pounds. Jeter would give Doc Sadler the big-bodied point guard he apparently believes he needed in games against certain Big 12 teams like Oklahoma State and Kansas.

If Jeter and Hankins commit, NU would have to drop a couple scholarships to make room. Chris Balham, who has chronic knee problems, is scheduled to graduate anyhow. Where would the other spot come from? Sadler isn't sure the german kid, Christian Standhardinger, will show up if the NCAA doesn't let him play right away. But if Standhardinger did come, what then? Who then?

It's interesting...just two weeks ago, Sadler said he was going to be very patient in signing guys. Said he wanted to wait until the transfer situation shook out at other schools.

The basketball season isn't even over yet. Sadler must have got the guys he really wanted.
