YO ! From the Goobster ...
I saw a thread started on Huskerpedia where folks were wondering why the NU crowd has been so quiet at the home games ? I remember most games I went to in Lincoln were pretty noisy with great crowd participation. If we are the "greatest fans" shouldnt we be rocking the place every game ? I guess I can understand why it would be quiet at Iowa State , but evidently it was quiet enough at other games to have folks wondering about it ? What do you think ? scratchchin image

We still are the greatest fans...just give us something to cheer about and the stands will be rocking.

I wasn't at the Iowa State game, but If I was...what would I have cheered about:
    ...7 fumbles?
    ...5 fumbles lost?
    ...3 interceptions?
    ...114 yards rushing?
    ...7 points?

I consider myself a die-hard Husker fan...good times and bad times...but it's hard to cheer for something that isn't there.

Nebraska fans don't have that self-proclaimed title because they rock the stadium with noise, or because the stadium is a particularly hostile place to play. It is because of their respect for the game, their knowledge of what good football is, and their loyalty to the team and the program. It is a fair criticism of NU home crowds that when things are not going well on the field, there is not much energy or enthusiasm amongst the crowd. Honestly, I don't know if there is any stadium that can pull that off. If the team is not playing good football on the field, tough for the crowd to get behind them. The other thing about the past two home games, is that the team got off to such miserable starts in both games, it felt like most of the energy just got sucked out of the stadium. The defense and special teams tried to get the crowd going, but it was hard to keep it going! I don't expect anything different this weekend. If the team gets off to a fast start, the crowd will respond. For all their good traits, the NU fan base are great front-runners, but not so much for causing rallies.

True , I can see where at that particular game it would have been tough to not only cheer , but not to boo ..... yeeeeesh ..... lmao image

Agree with most your points , but a test of a true fan is to support the team through thick and thin , and being loud and proud is important even when things are going bad ...I am not knocking most Husker fans , but know that there are a few who just drink and show up to be nasty and insulting. If they cant live their lives through NU football , as a winner , they act like spoiled losers .
I would say that most of these are younger fans , who know nothing but the success we had in the 90's , and the older crowd are the true bearers of the title 'Worlds greatest college football fans " . My main point is if you are going to a Husker game , SCREAM YOUR LUNGS OUT AND SUPPORT OUR TEAM.
DONT LET THE OPPOSING TEAM TAKE YOU OUT OF THE GAME. scratchchin image

    CASE IN POINT :
3 minutes left in the first half , we are ahead by 7 and our D is playing their normal great game , and yet , the crowd seems pretty quiet , compared to lots of other times. Our NU crowd was a little louder earlier , but now that OU is showing some resolve , our crowd seems quieter ? lookaround image

Yes , as the game went on the Husker fans seemed to pick it up in the fourth quarter. It wasnt as loud as I have ever heard it , but seemed like in the last quarter the noise was sufficient to cause a little trouble for OU's offense. Bo even commented after the game about the lack of noise in other games this year.
God what I would give to have the bucks to fly into Lincoln and get LOUD !
You guys have that privledge every week and you should take advantage of it.
The Husker players made up for alot tonight , who cares about IState now ?
Great great win , one we needed badly. Real proud of our team tonight.
As for you fans who dont seem to yell as loudly and have to gather your composure , I moved from Nebraska to Texas a little over 12 years ago , and all I can say is , I cant leave for a little over a decade and the place goes to hell in a handbasket and if we dont get a little MORE LOUDER , YOU DONT WANT ME TO COME BACK THERE ! IF I HAVE TO COME UP THERE ONE MORE TIME ...

GET LOUD AND STAY THAT WAY !!!!
    Great job Huskers !!!!
    GO BIG RED !!!!
