"I don't know. I can't explain a lot of this," Sadler said. "Our guys are playing well. If you just look at the stat sheet, you talk about turnovers and rebounding and transition baskets and all those things. But you can't leave out that one stat, and that's shooting the basketball. I mean, if you would have told me we would hold that team to 55 points and not win it, I would say I think you don't know what you're talking about."

A quote from Doc after the debacle against Baylor.

I don't know if Doc knows this, but I'll explain it. In this life there are winners and losers. Doc has a team full of losers. These guys continue to blow it game after game. They don't have what it takes to play in college basketball. I am sick of this team.

My opinion, for what its worth.

You know, I don't actively follow basketball. Kudos to the girls and shame on the boys. I haven't watched a single game or paid attention to stats. But it could be a simple fact that these guys just aren't as good at shooting and making baskets as other teams. Simple as that. A lack of the most fundamental and important natural talent that a basketball player should possess to be successful. You know, I played one year in middle school because I was kind of tall and a decent athlete. But I couldn't shoot worth a damn. Needless to say that basketball wasn't the sport for me because of a lack of a basic talent. Sure, you can teach technique and you can practice and that will make you better, but if you don't have it to begin with, you are ultimately doomed.

Kind of like sprinters - some guys are just naturally fast. You can have a guy who is a great athlete, who is not fat or stocky, and you can teach him the correct technique of how to run fast (run on your toes, etc), but some guys will just never be fast.

Of course, I may be talking out my a$$ here in regards to the guys basketball team. Maybe it is all mental like the 2007 Blackshirts.

Though NU doesn't have a James Anderson, saying Ryan Anderson doesn't "have what it takes to play in college basketball" is just silly. Yes, this team is clearly not playing well but coaching is a huge factor.

Sadler was tutored by impressive coaches like Sutton and Gillespie and did reasonably well at UTEP, but it seems he was ill prepared to battle in an elite conference like the Big XII. The bottom line is Doc shouldn't be confused with why his team is losing, but it isn't because he has a team of losers.
